Arizona White Mountain Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing

The Lodge is the starting point for incredible backcountry skiing. National Geographic Magazine selected the Lodge as one of the top five back country lodges in the United States with a full line of skis and boots available for rent. Snowshoes are also available for rent at the Nordic center.
Situated in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, the area offers acres of beautiful Engelmann spruce, Douglas fir, mixed conifer, aspen monarch and ponderosa pine trees. Completely isolated yet readily accessible, these serene meadows, hidden by open, old-growth forests, are the perfect place for great “flat-track” ski touring.
26 kilometers of groomed and/or marked trails leave right from the Lodge, offering opportunities to skiers of all levels. The Clell Lee trail, 5 km long, is a groomed loop along open drainages and through the forest and is for beginner and intermediate skiers. Ackre Lake is groomed, 10 km long, for beginner and intermediate skiers. The KP Rim-Willow Springs loop is in the Primitive Area and is marked but not groomed, runs 11 km for intermediate and expert skiers, and offers some of the best remote skiing anywhere in the Southwest.
